With the presence of the Head of the Department of Architectural Engineering,Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Jawad Al-Youssef , seminars discussions for postgraduate students – masters degree within all branches (architectural design - urban design - architecture technology) were held. The seminars lasted for two days from March 15th 2023 till Thursday 16th 2023 in the Post Graduate Studies Hall.
The seminars were headed by .Dr. Mufeed Ihsan Al-Shawk , the scientific assistant and post graduate studies committee members in the department.
New People's Hospital for the third stage students ,as part of the requirements
for designing a specialized hospital project in the second course of the academic
year.
During the visit, the students were briefed on the architectural design of the new
hospital, designed by the Spanish designer Rafael de la Oz, with a capacity of 200
beds and a total area of 40,000 square meters, the students were divided into
three groups accompanied by the engineering staff of the project, to see the
medical departments and their spaces in addition to the architectural,
construction and facilities details.
The visit came in cooperation with the Engineering Department in Baghdad
Governorate and Raya Alamein General Contracting Company, which are the
beneficiaries and executors of the project.
A scientific visit to the University of Technology mosque

Faculty staff tutoring Islamic and Arabic architecture as a subject of architecture
syllable ,Dr. Zainab Hussein Raouf and Dr. Bilal Samir Ali), organized a scientific
visit to the mosque of the University of Technology to the students of the second
stage for both branches of architectural design and urban design. The visit came
to enhance the theoretical knowledge of the subject and to explore the design
principles of Islamic architecture and the characteristics of mosque architecture
styles. A photography competition was organized for the students on the sidelines
of the visit to activate a number of skills.
Doctorate Thesis Discussion Titled)) (Humanistic Design in Contemporary Architecture - Hospital Buildings, Case Study)
Written by sohaibThe Student (Sinan Mohammed Taie Alsafar) at the Department of Architecture has been granted a doctorate of science degree on his thesis titled ((Humanistic Design in Contemporary Architecture - Hospital Buildings, Case Study)))
The discussion was held on Tuesday, February 2, 2023 at nine A.M, at the postgraduate study hall in the Department of Architectural Engineering at the University of Technology.
The discussion committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Jawad Kadhim and included as members each of:-
Assistant prof. Dr.Arij Karim Alsadkhan, Assistant prof. Dr.Ahmed Hashim Al Uqabi, Assistant prof. Dr.Mufeed Ihsan Shouk, Assistant prof. Dr Inas Salim Yousif Haji as members .
The thesis is supervised by Assistant Prof. Dr. Anwar Subhi Al qaraguli.
The thesis discussed the concept of Architecture relation to the human being a as human product for society benefits , meeting his physical and psychological needs, fulfilling his value requirements, and contributes to the realization and upgrading of the human awareness, in addition to the product’s expression of human behaviors and his interaction with the surrounding environment .
On the other hand, the human being is one of the basic approved references In architecture in terms of the dependence of the output of architecture on the scale, representation and abstraction of material, sensory and psychological human characteristics, within a human architectural design.
The study aimed to present the most comprehensive and clear knowledge of architectural design according to the humanitarian aspects in general, and the architecture of contemporary hospitals in particular, within a theoretical framework with the most important design considerations and foundations, based on the salutogenesis theory in architecture, and in a method that enhances the possibility of its local adoption in Iraq. Vocabulary on the general shape of the hospital and the entrance space for inpatients and visitors, as they constitute the first impression that affects all habitants , within two levels of application, Arab and local.
Local projects showed interest in the foundations of perceptual design and deficiencies in the cognitive and organizational environments, as well as a lack of care for the foundations of Biophilic Design according to the above, a set of general and specific recommendations on improving the architecture of local hospitals in Iraq were identified.

Architectural Design Final Presentation For The First Stage Students

Quality Assurance Lecture For Our Educational Institutions In Higher Education
Written by sohaibWithin the activities of the Department of Architectural engineering and the continuous pursuit of the best quality of education, a panel discussion lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Haitham Jabbar Taha (international expert on the quality of education and academic accreditation) on Wednesday, 1st February, 2023, the lecture entitled (Quality Assurance For Our Educational Institutions In Higher Education) . The lecture discussed the administrative and academic leadership of the Department of Architecture at the University of Technology in the presence of the head of the department, scientific and administrative assistants, in addition to the heads of the architectural design branch and Urban design branch and a group of faculty members.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research visit to the Department of Architectural Engineering

His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, as
part of his inspection tour, visited the Department of Architecture, in the presence of the
president of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban, the
scientific deputy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Haider
Abd Dhahad, the administrative assistant of the university , Prof. Dr. Hussein Hamid Karim, and
the scientific assistant of the university, Prof. Dr. Khawla Salah Khashan and the prominent
faculty members of the University of Technology. His Excellency praised all the measures taken
in the examination halls during the students’ performance of the first course exams on the
current academic year.
His Excellency was also briefed on the students projects exhibition of the Department of
Architecture and reviewed an explanation of the fifth stage projects. He was welcomed by the
head of the department, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Jawad, both the scientific and administrative
assistants and the head of the Architectural Design Branch.
Two Faculty Members Participation At International Architectural Excellence Award Activities

The Department of Architectural Engineering dispatched the teacher the Dr. Ahmed Luay
Ahmed (Head of the Architectural Design Branch) and Dr. Bashar Shamil Kadhim, to
participate in the activities of the International Architectural Excellence Award, which
included attending scientific dialogue seminars with international universities
(Cambridge, British Coventry, polytechnics -Italy) that were held in the city of Muscat,
the capital of the Sultanate of Oman for the period from 15 to 21 January, 2023,
sponsored by the Omani Engineers Society, Sultan Qaboos University, Tamayouz
Excellence Award for Architectural Excellence.
Free Sketching Work Shop
Under the supervision of Dr. Bashar Shamil Kadhim within the activities of
the Department of Architectural engineering ,a free Sketching workshop
was held for the first-stage students .The gathering was in the main
courtyard of the university in order to give the student a space within
this activity, to think and write in an area far beyond the walls of the
studio and the textbook , which aims to stimulate streamlined of
expression and the creativity of ideas within the privacy of the
architectural identity of the department.

The students of the Department of Architectural Engineering at the University of Technology, Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at nine A.M, commenced the exams for the first semester -first round for undergraduate study for the academic year 2022-2023.
The exams were conducted under the direct supervision of the department’s presidency, represented by the head of the department, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Jawad Kadhim, the scientific and administrative assistants and members of the examination committee in the department.
The exams took place in a well prepared atmosphere without any problems .

The innovators team - the Development and Research Division, represented by the student Abdullah Raed and the student Hamza Khalil Hamza, On Monday, January 9, 2023 participated in presenting the virtual reality technology (VR) at the International Conference (DESE-2023) in cooperation with the American University in Baghdad (AUIB) and the University of Anbar.
The first three days of the conference will be held at the American University in Baghdad, and the fourth day will be hosted by Anbar University.
The Department Of Architecture Organizes An Intellectual Lecture On Activating The Positive Use Of Social Networking Sites
Written by sohaibWithin the events and activities carried out by the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit in the Department of Architecture at the University of Technology for the academic year 2022-2023, an intellectual lecture entitled “Activating the positive use of social networking sites” was organized.
The lecture was given by the lecturer, Nora Iyad Ghaib, an employee at our university.
The lecture aims at acknowledging undergraduate students of the new social media, as modern societies have witnessed at the present time the growing phenomenon of using electronic communication technologies, as a result ,the new generation has no longer interacts with traditional media as much as it interacts with electronic media. This generation named as the network generation or the Internet generation.
There are many social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and others, and students have been instructed to self-monitor while using communication and media technology because these applications are just techniques and their positive usage depends on the nature of their user.
Intellectual visit to Umm al-Qura Mosque and the Islamic Museum by Sunni Endowment Divan
Written by sohaibA group of the faculty members at the department of architecture ,University of technology, represented by the scientific assistant, Prof. Dr. Mufid Ehsan, the head of the Architectural Design Branch, Dr. Ahmed Louay Ahmed, the Islamic architecture lecturer for undergraduate studies-fourth stage in addition to Assistant Prof. Dr. Zainab Hussein Raouf (Islamic Architecture ) lecturer for postgraduate studies, , Interior Design lecturer Assistant Prof. Dr. Shamael Muhammad Wajih, accompanied by the students of the fourth stage of the University of Technology , Department of Architecture, visited the Islamic Museum and Umm Al-Qura Mosque In Baghdad, in order to enhance the theoretical knowledge within the subject of Islamic architecture for undergraduate studies and the subject of(Architecture in the Islamic Context )for postgraduate studies.
The visit included a tour to the group of buildings within the Sunni Endowment Divan, starting with the Islamic Museum, during which the students got acquainted with Islamic history and the primary patterns of mosque architecture within a group of architectural models in the museum.
The group also went to the hall of celebrations and religious events, then to the Umm Al-Qura Mosque, to be acquainted of all mosque details .
