A Patent Granted By A Professor At The Department Of Architecture
The Department of Architectural Engineering congratulates (Assistant Professor Dr. Younis Mahmoud
Muhammad Salim) his distinguished scientific achievement for granting the patent entitled
“Illuminating small skylights for dwellings using a group of fixed mirrors that track the movement of the
sun.” We wish him success and prosperity.

Final submission for the first project, “Standard Middle School” - the third stage
The final submission of the ” Standard Middle School” was held On Monday, 6th of November. The
project was made by the third-stage students of the architectural and urban branches.
The project aimed to deal with functional-educational nature buildings so that students would realize
the impact of the various educational style (functional - formal - structural - Environmental -service)
determinants and its impact on all levels and dimensions of the project, as well as dealing with the
determinants of the context, as a group of actual schools was selected within residential areas in the city
of Baghdad for the purpose of adapting students’ awareness towards developing the educational
environment in the local reality lighting the problems within in order to achieve the educational model
environment.
The design team was represented by professors :

Final submission for the first project, “Standard Kindergarten” - the second stage students
The final submission of the ” Standard Kindergarten” was held On Sunday, November 19.
The project was made by the second-stage students of the architectural and urban branches.
The project aimed to deal with the buildings of a functional-educational nature that deal with
the category of children and to realize the impact of their standards, such as human
treatment, their diverse requirements, and their privacy on All levels and aspects of the
project, as well as dealing with the specificity of the project in terms of activities and their
relationship to the climatic environment, dealing with sound insulation requirements, as well
as aspects of protection and safety.
The urban branch objective was on how to understand the project context, which is
represented by the University of Technology on the one hand and the commercial street

adjacent to the project on the other hand, and how to create an articulation between the two
sites.

 A graduation project from the Department of Architecture competes among the list of twenty
international projects
The website of the Tamayouz Award for graduation projects in Architecture announced the nomination
of the project of our architect Rand Safaa Al-Din Jaafar, which is titled “Development of the
Archaeological City of Akerkov” on the shortlist (the list of 20 projects in the world level).
It is currently considered the most prominent project competing to obtain the Tamayouz Award at the
level of Iraq.
We congratulate our department on this achievement and appreciate the efforts of the creative
architect and the dedication of the teaching staff for the fifth stage to enrich the graduation projects of
