Holding a Workshop Titled: "The Use of Laser Measuring Devices in Interior Design Works"
The Graduate Follow-up, Training, and Employment Unit in the department organized a workshop today, Thursday, February 13, 2025, titled:
"The Use of Laser Measuring Devices in Interior Design Works."
The workshop was dedicated to fifth-year students to train them in essential technical skills required for the job market.
It included a theoretical segment covering:
- Types of measuring devices and their features.
- An introduction to laser measuring devices, their types, and benefits.
- The various functions these devices offer architects in interior design.
The practical segment followed, allowing participants to apply their theoretical knowledge using the measuring devices provided by the Graduate Follow-up, Training, and Employment Unit.
The workshop featured contributions from:
- Dr. Bilal Samir Ali
- Engineer Hala Maytham
- Engineer Ruweda Basim
An architecture student won first place as the Iraq Youth Commentator in the semi-final episode.
Student Ali Adnan, a fourth-year Urban Design student, secured first place as Iraq Youth Commentator in the competition broadcasted by Al-Rabaa Sports Channel as part of the Iraq Youth Commentator program, produced by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The judging panel consisted of:
- Omani commentator Khalil Al-Balushi
- Tunisian analyst Hicham El-Gloussi
- Theater critic Dr. Jabbar Khimmat
Student Ali Adnan achieved a total of 69 points, qualifying him for the final episode.

The Director of the Scientific and Engineering Consultancy Office at the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Saadoun Salman, along with the Scientific Assistant, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mufeed Ihsan Al-Shawk, extended their congratulations to Prof. Dr. Abbas Ali Hamza on the occasion of his appointment as Head of the Department of Architecture.

On Thursday, February 6, 2025, the Department Council Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Abbas Ali Hamza, Head of the Department of Architecture, with the presence of assistant heads, branch heads, the department rapporteur, and the representative of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate.
The meeting focused on discussing student affairs, postgraduate studies, and reviewing the reports from the Architectural Design and Urban Design branches, as well as the examination committees.
The Department of Architecture's participation in the Second Edition of the 2025 Leadership Initiative, organized by the Continuing Education Center at the University of Technology.
Architect Ayat Ali Nafi participated in the Second Training Session of the 2025 Leadership Initiative, held at the Continuing Education Center at the University of Technology. This initiative was organized under the guidance of the Prime Minister’s office, with supervision from the University of Technology Presidency and the Scientific Assistant Office.
During the initiative, Architect Ayat Ali Nafi delivered lectures alongside several students, including graduates from the University of Technology and other universities. The course aimed to build an entrepreneurial community that supports youth and creative thinkers who aspire to turn their service-oriented project ideas into successful ventures. The training included guidance on preparing a comprehensive action plan and conducting a feasibility study for those projects.
