The esteemed Head of the Department of Architecture Engineering, Prof. Dr. Abbas Ali Hamza, met with the students of the Young Architects' Club to receive their congratulations on his appointment as Head of the Department.

It is worth noting that the Young Architects' Club, established a year ago, serves as an intellectual and professional space for students, newly graduated architects, and those interested in various civic issues, such as contemporary architecture and modern technology, sustainable urban design and green spaces, historical and cultural architecture, engineering, interior design, and the arts. The esteemed Head of the Department of Architecture, Prof. Dr. Abbas Ali Hamza, along with the esteemed Assistant Scientific Dean, Assistant Prof. Dr. Mufid Ihsan Al-Shawk, inspected the progress of the final exams for the first semester on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. The inspection covered first-year students from both branches: Architectural Design and Urban Design.

he Head of the Architecture Department, Professor Dr. Abbas Ali Hamza, conducted an inspection visit to the first-year students on their last day of the first semester today, Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

The visit was attended by the First-Year Coordinator for the Architectural Branch in the Architectural Design I course, Lecturer Dr. Mustafa Kamel.

During the visit, the Head of the Department provided valuable guidance as part of the Day Sketch activity for Architectural Design I. He also reviewed the students' final submissions for the Architectural Drawing course.

The Graduate Follow-up, Training, and Employment Unit in the department organized a workshop today, Thursday, February 13, 2025, titled:
"The Use of Laser Measuring Devices in Interior Design Works."

The workshop was dedicated to fifth-year students to train them in essential technical skills required for the job market.

It included a theoretical segment covering:

  • Types of measuring devices and their features.
  • An introduction to laser measuring devices, their types, and benefits.
  • The various functions these devices offer architects in interior design.

The practical segment followed, allowing participants to apply their theoretical knowledge using the measuring devices provided by the Graduate Follow-up, Training, and Employment Unit.

The workshop featured contributions from:

  • Engineer Hala Maytham

Student Ali Adnan, a fourth-year Urban Design student, secured first place as Iraq Youth Commentator in the competition broadcasted by Al-Rabaa Sports Channel as part of the Iraq Youth Commentator program, produced by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The judging panel consisted of:

  1. Omani commentator Khalil Al-Balushi
  2. Tunisian analyst Hicham El-Gloussi
  3. Theater critic Dr. Jabbar Khimmat

Student Ali Adnan achieved a total of 69 points, qualifying him for the final episode.
