An event for third-year professors and students
In conjunction with the final presentation in Architectural Design for third-year students, an event was
organized by the students, attended by department assistants, distinguished faculty members, and some
guests. This celebration, held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, honored the retirement of Dr. Safaa Al-Din Al-
Samaraie, the head of the architectural design department, expressing gratitude for his dedicated efforts
towards the department and its students across all academic levels.

The final presentation for third-year students in the Architectural Design course, titled "Children's
Hospital and Autism Center," occurred on Thursday, May 9, 2024. The project aimed to introduce
students to healthcare facilities in general, particularly focusing on autism centers and rehabilitation for
addicts, emphasizing the standards and criteria specific to healthcare buildings in terms of functionality,
construction, and environmental aspects. The design team comprised Dr. Safaa Al-Din Al-Samaraie, Dr.
Shamael Mohammad Aldabbagh, Dr. Zeinab Hussein Raouf, Dr. Enas Salem Abdulhadi, Asst. Dr. Venus
Suleiman, Asst. Dr. Sura Qasim, Dr. Khansa Ghazi Rashid, Asst. Dr. Yahya Adel, Asst. Dr. Mohammed
Basim, and Asst. Dr. Ataa Hasan.

On Saturday, May 11, 2024, the final presentation for the project "Lakefront Motel" by first-year students
was conducted. The project aimed to teach students about the development and management of tourism
projects and understanding demand and supply analysis in the hospitality and tourism sector. The study of
the project helps students acquire the necessary skills to evaluate site attractiveness, identify opportunities
and challenges, and develop business and marketing plans, enabling them to apply theoretical concepts in
a practical context. The teaching staff for the first year included: Dr. Mustafa Kamel, Dr. Breezat Qasim,
Dr. Aseel Ibrahim, Dr. Bashar Shamil, Dr. Mustafa Khudair, Asst. Lect. Vian Abdulbasir, and Asst. Lect.
Inas Ali Salman.

Architecture students participated in the 10th edition of the Baghdad Contemporary Art Installation
Festival. Students Ali Ziyad, Aisha Shbeeb from the fourth year, and Sally Naeem from the third year of
the Architecture Department participated in the festival held at the Modern Art Museum (Colbencian
Hall) from May 9 to 12, 2024. The exhibition, titled "Freedom of Creativity and Diversity," aimed to
support young Iraqi artists.

Participation of the Architectural Engineering Department in discussing graduation projects at Al-Nahrain University
Participation of the Architecture Department in the graduation projects discussions, aiming
to enhance scientific and academic cooperation among various Architecture Departments in Iraqi
universities. A group of distinguished faculty members from the Architecture Department at the
University of Technology (Assistant Professor Dr. Yahya Adel, Assistant Professor Dr. Younis
Mahmoud, Assistant Professor Dr. Zainab Hussein Raouf, and Lecturer Dr. Nagham Ahmed)
participated on Sunday and Monday, the 12th and 13th of the current month, in the graduation
project discussions committees for fifth-year students in the Architecture Department at the
University of Baghdad. This participation comes within the framework of joint scientific
cooperation among Iraqi universities, aiming to benefit from the exchange of experiences and
stay updated on the latest scientific developments and their application to our students'
graduation projects in the academic year 2024/2023. Best wishes to the staff of Architecture
Departments and our dear students in various Iraqi universities for success and continued
prosperity.
