The Department of Architecture Engineering at Karbala University organized a scientific seminar on interior design, with contributions from faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shama'il Mohammed Wajeeh Al-Dabbagh and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zainab Hussein Raouf, who served as lecturers for the event. The seminar consisted of two main topics:

The first topic focused on furniture, its styles in interior design, and the patterns and methods of organizing and distributing furniture. It also covered the impact of furnishings on enriching the meaning and theme of interior spaces.

The second topic presented a lecture on contemporary Islamic architecture and interior design, offering an overview of Islamic interior spaces, their foundations, and the principles that generate traditional Islamic identity within these spaces. It also discussed how to adapt these principles to meet modern-day requirements.

The seminar concluded with a Q&A session, during which students actively engaged with the presented concepts. The seminar was held under the patronage of the Head of the Department of Architecture Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haider Ibrahim Alawi, as part of the academic collaboration between Iraqi universities.

The scientific activity aimed to strengthen ties with other academic institutions and enrich the scientific and cultural aspects for students.

On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the Master's thesis defense for the researcher (Batool Adnan Abdulamir) took place, titled "Biological Energy of Geometric Shapes in Architecture." The thesis focused on the concept of energy and its relationship with architectural form, examining both the positive and negative effects on humans. The thesis aimed to build a comprehensive knowledge model of biological energy in architecture and its applications to mosque design.

The study addressed the analysis of factors affecting human bio-balance within architectural spaces, which are influenced by the waves encountered within any architectural space, including natural, industrial, and waves produced by architectural design elements such as shapes, colors, proportions, and materials. The goal was to identify the principles for dealing with architectural space-forming elements from the perspective of bioenergy science.

The thesis concluded that each geometric shape has its own specific energy, which varies from shape to shape and is used to achieve balance in the electromagnetic fields of space. The principles of form-making are based on establishing a set of geometric relationships between different angles to determine specific types of energy.

The discussion committee consisted of the following esteemed professors:

  • Prof. Dr. Mustafa Khudhir Abadi ........ (Chair)
  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Zainab Hussein Raouf ........ (Member)
  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Ashwaq Fadil Mukhayber ........ (Member)
  • Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Jawad Kazem ........ (Supervisor Member)
  • Prof. Dr. Abdullah Saadoun Salman ........ (Supervisor Member)
