The department chair, faculty members, and students of the Department of Architecture participated in the Second Arab Architectural Conference, which was organized by the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate and the Arab Architects Association, in cooperation with the Arab Engineers Union, and supported by the Iraqi Ministry of Construction and Housing. The conference took place in Baghdad from November 16-17, 2024, under the theme "Sustainability as a Goal for Achieving a Safe Living Environment."
The first session of the first day was chaired by Professor Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Al-Ali, the former head of the department, while the second session of the second day was chaired by the current department head, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Jawad Kazem. Faculty members (Assist. Prof. Dr. Anwar Sobhi Ramadan, Dr. Ata Hassan Aboud, and Dr. Zainab Abdelhadi) presented their research titled: "Young Architectural Practices and Achieving Sustainable Development Goals." Dr. Bilal Samir Ali also presented his research titled: "The Debate on Designing a Centennial Sustainable Building in the Context of the Lindy Effect."
A number of faculty members and students from the department attended the conference's events and sessions, in line with sustainability issues covered in theoretical courses and urban and architectural design projects.
