On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, the master's thesis of student Shahd Ali Dawood, titled "Strategies for Pluralism in Urban Centers: A Case Study of Old Mosul," was discussed. The thesis explored the concept of "pluralism and the comprehensive application of its strategies in urban centers," addressing the challenges of urban development in modern cities and proposing diverse solutions that do not rely solely on one strategy. The research emphasizes the holistic approach of using multiple strategies.
The study aimed to build a comprehensive theoretical framework that defines pluralism strategies (integration, collaboration, participatory aggregation, and repositioning), along with their various directions, dimensions, and indicators. It employed a mixed-methods approach, including field surveys, spatial analysis programs, mathematical equations, and descriptive analysis of the center of Old Mosul.
The findings concluded that utilizing diverse strategies in conjunction can foster actual pluralism, enhancing urban vitality and achieving sustainability and effectiveness in urban centers.
